DENTAL SEALANTS

Category: General Dentistry

Dental sealants are a minimal thin plastic coating that are painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth to prevent tooth decay. The sealant covers the grooves and pits of the teeth to “seal out” plaque and food.

Typically children should get sealants on their back teeth as soon as those teeth come in to protect the teeth from the high cavity risk ages of 6 to 14.
